"Vroom, vroom, cruisin' the dunes!  Mornings, evenings, and afternoons!  Vroom, vroom, cruising the dunes!" - the Backyardigans.

BACKGROUND...

Beachcomber is a laid-back, peace-loving robot.  He understands the need to fight, but would rather not.  The war between the Autobots and Decepticons holds little interest to him.  He would be happier to spend his time cruising some beautiful beaches or quiet desert sand dunes.  His need for calm amid all the conflict around him causes him a lot of mental stress.

Beachcomber doesn't offer a lot as a soldier.  His strength lies in his intelligence and skill as the Autobot's geologist.  As the Autobots are marooned on Earth, his knowledge is important to help them understand the different environments of the planet and help them to best know how to handle those adversities.  He has sensors that can be used to analyze soil samples or locate important resources.  He can even scan and communicate back to some of Earth's wildlife.

Beachcomber transforms into a small blue dune buggy.  This mode is particularly useful in his role on the team as he can handle various types of terrain.

MY THOUGHTS...

Beachcomber was a fun little Autobot.  He may not have been a front-line fighter, but you could run that little dune-buggy with the nice rubber tires, all over your yard and barrel over Decepticons!  He had a gentle, likable personality in the cartoons.

I liked all the mini-cars and I bought them all!  Thanks to an awesome price-point ($3 a piece!!) and the bonuses often packed with them (mini spies or decoys)!  How could you not?  Beachcomber was great!

The Beachcomber standing in for the original G1 figure is from the 2017 Power Of The Primes series.  They did an excellent job recreating this character!  I had fun taking photos of this figure on beautiful Topsail Island.  Now this is a place where Beachcomber would feel totally at home!

Beachcomber and other mini-cars from the 1986 catalog!
