One Word Reviews - Wave 5 (1986)
"Turning the CRAZY up a notch"
Aww yeah, One Word Reviews returns with Wave 5 of the G.I. Joe Series. This time around, we revisited some familiar territory - we saw a new Marine, a new SEAL, a new Medic, a new Snow Trooper and so on. At the same time, the year 1986 brought us some bizarre additions like android troopers, a mad scientist, a celebrity, and a clone Emperor. Both Joe and Cobra were taking another step towards victory in this battle of good vs evil. Yet, both took some strange routes to get there.
So what will our judges think of this Wave of figures? Will they embrace these new characters or will they abhor them? Did Hasbro get a little too loose with the sci-fi direction? Let's find out...

Further thoughts from Deathwish... "This was a decent run for the toyline. However, some of them needed more than one word and then some of them are just questions, lol. Still to this day, I don not understand the shirtless Dr. Mindbender or the fact that Zandar looks like he is going to jazzercize."
Further thoughts from Knightmare... "For the most part, I feel like Hasbro should have took the year off and worked on this line-up some more. There were a few notable figures, but generally, they went with odd color choices or overboard with the design!"
Well, the reviews were a bit all over the place, which makes sense considering the new directions the toyline was splintering into. G.I. Joe straddled both sides of the fence as they had realistic military figures like Leatherneck and then outlandishly dressed characters like Zandar. These figures turned some people away, while at the same time, brought new people in.
So where do you go after you interduce android troops and a clone Emperor? We'll find out when the SCC Judges Panel returns to kindly review Series 6 soon!!
