One Word Reviews - SERIES 2 (1983)

One Word Reviews - Series 2 (1983)

"They're back... and better than ever!"

Alright!!!  Time for Round 2 of One Words Reviews!!  The previous line, the beginning, had a massive re-use of parts.  We are now moving away from that.  More specialized troops, more color, more in-depth file cards!  A big step forward, but what does the Judges Panel at Snoova's Corner Cafe have to say about the G.I. Joe - Class of 1983?

Deathwish returns to give this Second Wave of G.I. Joe figures a look.  This time he is joined by Knightmare - another friend of mine that I grew up collecting the G.I. Joe toy-line with.  Also kicking in their thoughts are two of my boys who will be going by the codenames of Agent Zero (17) and Blitzwing (15) and Gravy (15, yeah they are twins).  All five members of the SCC Judges Panel have not compared notes and have reviewed these figures separately!

So quickly... a reminder of the rules...  1.)  Only one word to describe the figure.  2.)  Don't duplicate the word for a second figure in the same series.  3.)  If they feel the need, they can provide a short paragraph to elaborate on their thoughts overall.

Okay, so hold onto your hats, it's time to find out what these guys think of G.I. Joe - SERIES 2!!

Additional thoughts from Deathwish:  "This was so much better of an assortment of figures even though half of the line was a correction of the first wave with better articulation of the arms.  Some of these are near and dear to my heart.  The Skystriker with Ace was my first vehicle and Snow Job was my very first figure.  All in all this was a great start or should I say restart to the toy line!"

Additional thoughts from Knightmare:  Series 1 was just to test the waters.  The figures were bland with bodies getting reused/repainted with head changes.  There were few real variations.  After the success of Series 1, Series 2 was released with better variety and even some and even some overboard figures.  Ace is wearing a space suit to pilot a Tomcat.  I could see it if it was a Night Raven.  The big disappointment was the Glider Viper who had a Trooper body with an Officer emblem.  Series 2 changed the game with variety and exciting characters to light the imagination.

Well, there we go!  Quite some differing opinions between the Judges Panel there... but that's okay!  We all have our reasons why we do or don't like our figures!  Looks like Snow Job and Torpedo did the best overall.  I'll agree, those were some good figures!  Tan Grunt didn't fare as well...

So we are done with Series 2... on to Series 3.  Anybody that knows 80's Joes is well aware we are heading for some major AWESOMENESS in the next batch of characters.  Stay tuned...
